DESCRIPTION: EPW - T.F. Cooper, London, duplex fusee, 61mm, massive 18K gold cabriolet (reversible) casing with "J.S. St. Louis" marking and eagle hallmark, outer with image of two figures holding swords to its rear, inner and outer with ornate floral detail, inner with gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, capped duplex escapement, 12J, diamond endstone, gilt mvt, s#6735 with matching serial number within cases. Comes as pictured with a massive 18K gold (tested) chain measuring approximately 16 inches from hook to clasp. Gross weight of assembled watch 133.7 dwt (207.9 g), which includes the outer case alone having a gross weight of 59.6 dwt (92.7 g). Gross weight of 18K gold chain 46.6 dwt (72.6 g). A very attractive and notably massive set, ideal for the English watch collector who likes a LOT of gold weight!
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, plates with some typical fine to micro-fine scratches, also with ultra-fine scratch striations likely from a past wiping; dial flawless apart from a small bit of glue seepage evident at seating of its seconds-register indicating seconds-register has likely been re-secured; fine hands, minute with past soldered repair at its base; cases with good cabriolet function; outer case shows light wear, no dents or dings, engraving detail somewhat reduced but remains quite attractive; inner case shows light wear, ding to bezel near 8, no dents, engraving detail somewhat reduced but remains quite attractive; tight bow notably thinned at top, push shows light wear; good glass crystal. Chain shows ample wear with links thinned at contact points.
